Post-War Homes with Finished Basements
A large share of Millcreek’s housing is 1950s and 1960s ramblers, and most of them have basements that were finished years after the house was built. That often means the furnace is boxed in behind finished walls, ducts are hidden in soffits, and basement rooms were given supply vents but no path for air to return. The result is a basement that feels stuffy and a furnace that works harder than it should. Adding returns or reworking a few runs usually solves it.
Sunrooms and additions are common here too, and they are often the least comfortable rooms in the house. A Mitsubishi ductless mini-split can heat and cool an addition on its own without touching the main system.

It can be. Without a return, air pushed into the basement has trouble getting back to the furnace, which leaves rooms stuffy and reduces overall airflow. We can often add a return through a closet, soffit or wall cavity with minimal disruption.

Yes. A whole-home humidifier installed on the furnace adds moisture as air circulates, and a humidity control keeps levels comfortable without causing condensation on cold windows.
